A tropical escape to Sri Lanka. Surrounded by pristine beaches, lush green and wonderful people; our stay in the lovely country was nothing short of a dream vacation. In an effort to pack light, I mostly packed dresses and playsuits this time and left most of my clothes I knew I would not wear, at home.
Our first day was spent in transit. Upon arrival at the Sri Lanka airport, we were comfortably shifted to our hotel (some 110 KMS away from the airport). A gush of rain met us halfway and it made the remaining part of our road trip more beautiful as it already was.
Soon enough, we found ourselves watching the waves crash into the shore through the rain that would stop only a few hours after our coffee time at the private balcony. Needless to say, the process of checking in and settling down was way too smooth. We fell asleep real quick that night after filling our tummies with the famous spicy and tasty Sri Lankan food.
The outfit photographs in this post are from Day 2. We woke up early that day and spent some time at the beach. We strolled along the shoreline barefoot, occasionally hand-in-hand, sometimes stopping by to take a picture or two and playing with the waves. The shore was made of crisp, clean golden sand stretches for a long distance and decorated with sea-shells of different sizes. In the afternoon, we stocked up on a few things from a super market located at Aluthgama (around 3 kms from our hotel). We picked fruits and snacks mostly.
Evenings call for photoshoots. We decided on clicking a few pictures and spending some more time at the beach and once the darkness sets in, go to a nearby beachside restaurant and grab some seafood for dinner. And we did exactly that. What a day it was! Just perfect to kick start a week of our beach holiday.
The dress I am wearing is probably one of my favorite dresses I have ever owned. The blue and the white of the dress matched the background so perfectly, I have a feeling that this dress was made for my Sri Lanka trip hehe. Anyways, here are the pictures we made for the first Travel & Outfit post from Sri Lanka. I hope you like the stillness and the calm of the frames.
