Assam: Where the heart is!

As the airplane wheels squealed on the tarmac of the runaway, I sneaked a glimpse of the outside world through the window. A sense of calm fell upon me. A few minutes later, the moist air kissed my dry skin and as I put my feet on the ground, I joined my hands in awe, thanking the higher spirit for guiding me home. Hello Assam! I will be here for a few days now.

(A day later)

“And in moments like this, I come to strongly believe that there is a unifying spirit that pervades all the things and that the human soul, the beautiful animals and every bit of nature are ONE”…When I wrote this for a social media post, I was sitting silently beside an old river that runs through my village, immersed in my own thoughts and right next to me, a few beautiful animals grazed beneath the blue sky and from afar, the laughter of the kids playing in the water floated towards me. I felt the love that binds us all and I could feel so much love around and within me.

Travelling seriously has taken a backseat these days but I am content at heart. Earlier, a month or two without visiting a new place made me feel a bit restless, but now, it feels good to be where I am, living in the moment and relishing everything around me.

Possibly for the first time ever, I am looking at things with a fresh pair of eyes. You know how we take certain things for granted and overlook the ordinary things that catches the attention of someone who sees it for the first time. I am taking out time to explore the villages nearby, talk to random people over a cup of tea and watch the sun go down while reading a book on the terrace. I am doing things in my daily life that I usually do when I travel to some place new and I am slowly falling in love with this lifestyle, for maybe this is who I am.

Here are some pictures clicked over the last couple of days. Hope you like them.
